I just started the book The Kite Runner. After hearing continuos compliments about the book from my stepmom I was really looking forward to picking it up and reading. When i first got the book the back didnt have much about the story line, just compliments from big names people/places. So i asked my stepmom about it and she told me the basic story line, not forgeting to compliment it some more. When i first opened the book, after the title page, there was three pages of more compliments raving about how good the book is. At first i figured that the book would be boring, have a whole bunch of really long words that would be completely foreign to me, and that i would have to consentrate really hard just to understand the basic story line. It turned out that i couldn't get enough of the book. i could hardly put it down. In the first few days i had read 80 pages, which for me is really good, because i consider myself a slow reader. At times the book would get pretty discusting but still those would just make the story that much better. I remember one time i wanted to just scream at the main charcter in order to get him to do one thing or another. The book is just so gripping and wonderfully written i am disapointed because i feel that im reading it too fast and that i need to slow down so that it lasts longer. Well i am very excited to continue this read and to see how it turns out.

i dont like that book. it is too graphic for me. sorry!
So what is the book about?
Wow! Just the name draws my attention. Although I have no idea what it means..haha. What is this story about? What time period is it set in? What does the title "Kite Runner" mean, and what does the book cover symbolize??
I agree with you. I just couldn't get enough of the story, too. From the point that the main character witnesses a crime, I couldn't put it down. I think it would be a great book for the class to read. I learned so much about Afganistan, and also a lot about friendship. Great book!
