There is also a movie based on The Westing Game, but I've heard that it is nowhere near as good as the book.

Money- The root of all evil?
I just finished a book called The Westing Game. It's actually a bit childish, but I loved it! It's about this rich man named Sam Westing who loved to play games, so when he is mysteriously found dead in his Manson, his will is a contest. The winner.. gets $200 millions dollars. This mystery/suspense is fun and has lots of unexpected twists. It really makes you think. It shows how decent people can become completely horrible when money is at risk. Why does cash have such an effect on people? When you think about it, almost all things bad come from people wanting money, power, or fame. So is money the root of all evil? I don't really think so... evil comes from the love of money.

I read that book last year. I liked it a lot. My favorite character was Turtle.
That sounds like a really interesting book, I think I would like to try and read that!
When you say childish, do you mean the reading level? I'm curious because it sounds like a really interesting book, but I find it hard to read books that are extreamlly below my reading level. I'll have to go take a look at it sometime.
Actually the movie was really good. It is probably one of my all time favorites.
:)
I do believe money is the root of all evil.
Imagine the world without any form of currency or money at all. We would all just work for the better cause, you could call it world peace if you wanted.
We would all happy, and nobody would be fighting or getting killed over stupid arguments, which are more often than not caused by disputes over money.
We would still be in a war like we are now, because some disputes cannot be avoided because it is human nature. Saddam wants to commit genocide on a race, not because of any money issues.
Nobody would be putting out law suits or anything against someone else for not paying this or paying that.
Some people are evil and callous by nature, and that can't be helped. The need for money corrupts many, however.
Money is a form of social status to many people. A million dollar car is just the same as a twenty thousand dollar car, they both perform their job: get you to and from places.
