T or F ... Some People Are Above the Law?

I feel that this is true.

I feel that even though it is unfair that celebrities and people that are, or were in the government have much more lenient laws than someone like you or me who is just an average citizen.

An example of this in the government level could be the fact that Richard Nixon got away with the Watergate Scandal because President Ford pardoned him. Although Nixon did leave office, the punishment should have been a lot worse for something that major.

Was Ford's issued pardon he being above the law or trying to move on? I agree with you that the fact that pardons make the President or anyone that he issues the pardon to above the law but the intention of the pardon was not really above the law. Ford pardoned Nixon so that the nation could move on from the scandal at Watergate. From there you could argue if it would have been better to punish Nixon even if that meant dragging on the scandal that was almost handicapping the nation or just let it go. My personal opinion on that is it is better to let it go. There is no need to create more drama on top of what's already taken place.

I always saw the Nixon pardon as Ford saying that Watergate is behind us and we need to look at America and what's going on right now. It must be frustrating when you want to move ahead, but you're dragged behind by other people's mistakes.
