After reading, I would really hate to have Aunt Alexandra stay with me. I wouldn't want to be told how to act or what I should wear. I never really understood how being proper meant being a Southern Bell, do-what-your-told, only-speak-when-spoken-to kind of girl. It's ridiculous. I believe in indivivduality and being open about your opinions. I'm probably only saying this because I am pretty high-strung and I don't take crap from people. I understand how Scout is feeling. You can be a good little girl, even if you do wear pants. Also, Aunt Alexandra is wrong about being pedigree. In order to be acceptable, you have to marry your third cousin to maintain a certain status. That is ridiculous. Wouldn't you eventually run out of cousins? That's kind of gross. I always saw cousins like part-time siblings. You may not see them often, but they're still pretty close blood-wise. I would never marry any of my cousins:1)It's practically incest and 2)All of my cousins are at least seven years older than me and 3)I've got more dignity than, I'll find my own spouse thank you very much.

I agree with you 110%!!!! Plus, I don't think I even HAVE 3rd cousins. My 2nd cousins are all girls, and 10-20 years older than me. I REFUSE to marry a 1st cousin. No one could pay me to marry anyone in my family, no matter how many times removed they are.
why would we marry our cousins when there are so amny other rightful prospects out there (sarcasam) lol.
i think that it would be so gross to marry a cousin 3ed or 1st most of my cousins are not good looking in the first place

I agree! Their town was smaller though. I know of towns where it's had to find anyone who's not family. My dad lived in a town like that. I go there every other weekend to vist. Everyone knows you there, and it would be really hard to find anyone to date, cause they're all family. I would hate to live somewhere like that.
That's true, 1dayi'llfly!!!! I love small towns, but being related to everyone would get old.
Although, holidays and reunions would be fun.
