The Greatest Rival in All Sports

Everyone has a rival. An exact opposite you everyone from that team is bred to hate. Even if you no nothing about a team you still hate them. For every Cardinal there is a Cub , For every Yankee there is a Red Sock, For every Wolverine there is a Buckeye, For every Cetic there is a Laker. Rivalries are what define sports. They are what make sports so enjoyable. There is nothing better than beating the team you hate most.
There have been many great rivalries over the wonderful history of sports. However the one that defines what sports, particuly college basketball, is the rivalry in North Carolina. Everyone knows about this rivalry. This rivalry is between two of college basketballs powerhouse schools. Just separated by 8 long miles known as Tobacco Road. 8 miles might seem like not that far, but the distance between these two schools is far more than just 8 miles. One school, North Carolina, is a public state school made up of primarily North Carolina residents. The other (the better one I might say), Duke, is a private school made up of over half out of state students. The hatred runs deep between these two schools.
The book I'm reading is called," To Hate Like This is To Be Happy Forever," it is written by Will Blythe. Will Blythe is a North Carolina Fan so I was a bit skeptical about the way the book would be written (favoring North Carolina) however he proved me worng. He wrote a pretty close to fair book, atleast as good as a Tar Heel can write. Overall the book realy gave a great description of how the rivalry really is. He went to both Duke and North Carolina players and coaches to get the entire story. I'm not yet done reading the book, but I think it already ranks as my favorite book.

Wow. That's oh my gosh. Wow. Uh. That's true though, if we didn't have a rival...we probably wouldn't be playing sports!
