Romeus and Juliet

No, that is not a typo. "The Tragical History of Romeus and Juliet" is the predecessor of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet." At least it's theorized that it is. The main characters' names are nearly identical and the story is very similar. "Romeo and Juliet" is longer than the 2000 lines in "The Tragical History of Romeus and Juliet" and "Romeo and Juliet" is more detailed with it's play. This may be because of the fact that it is a play and not a poem, which "The Tragical History of Romeus and Juliet" was. What all does this mean? Well for one, he didn't think of the brilliant dramatic story everyone knows, it was Arthur Brooke. Anyway, if anyone wants to read the origins of "Romeo and Juliet," read "The Tragical History of Romeus and Juliet."
